Veteran Pendle Forest CC rider Richard Bideau saw of the challenge of in-form Steve Irwin to take top spot in the 100-mile Yorkshire Cycling Federation event held in Topcliffe on Saturday.
Bideau averaged 28.63 miles per hour over the gruelling course to complete in 3:29.33, 2.34 ahead of North Lancs RC’s Irwin who made it round in 3:32.07.
Bideau and Irwin showed fantastic quality and were well ahead of the rest of the field with Team Swift’s Mark Nulty third in 3:50.39.
Team Swift had their own competition going on with Neil Skellern coming fourth in 3:52.22 and Peter Greenwood taking fifth in 3:58.15 – the last rider to make it round in under four hours.
Vicky Jowett of Albarosa CC was top woman in a time of 4:47.22, well ahead of WCS Racing Team’s Sharon Clifford who recorded a 5:09.56.
