Richard Bideau of Pendle Forest CC put in a fantastic performance to take first place in the 100-mile Eastern Counties Cycling Association event held in Cambridgeshire on Sunday.
Bideau stopped the clock at an incredible 3:22.16, three minutes and 12 seconds ahead of his closest competitor, the ever-improving Liam Maybank of Twickenham CC who recorded a time of 3:25.28. G.S. Henley rider Peter Harrison was third with a time of 3:28.17.
Light winds on a rather exposed course made one stretch quite tough going but the riders still recorded some great times with some fantastic performances.
Alice Lethbridge of Starley Racing went under the four-hour mark with a great ride of 3:57.34 to win the women’s category.
Her closest rival, Katja Rietdorf (Born to Bike), covered the distance in 4:04.26. Eleanor Haresign (Harrogate Nova CC) was third with 4:11.32.
At the age of 86, Peter Horsnell of Chelmer CC won the veteran on standard prize with a staggering +1:44.48.
