Adam Duggleby (The Nab Racing) powered to victory in the Ilkley CC 10-mile time trial, staged on the V212 course near Boroughbridge in North Yorkshire on Saturday.
Perhaps more commonly seen on a tandem or as a pilot for GB Para-cyclist Steve Bate, 31-year-old Leeds-based rider Duggleby clocked 20.41.
That gave him the win by 16 seconds from 46-year-old Simon Beldon (SSLL Racing Team), while third spot went to London 2012 track gold medallist Steven Burke MBE (Team Wiggins).
First junior was 16-year-old talent Nathan Allatt (Royal Navy CA) whose time of 21.55 gave him 11th overall in a quality field of over 100 riders, while fastest female was Jessica Bacon (York Cycleworks) with 23.40, the 37-year-old taking the win by 1-07 from Kirsty Smith (Team Swift).
The challenging course takes the riders from Boroughbridge up to Walshford and back. The first 20 or so riders on the road had to contend with hail, but once the sun came out conditions dramatically improved and allowed for some good times for the course.
