Description

HQ (Open from 07:30) Cranfield University Sport Hall College Road Cranfield Bedfordshire MK43 0AL There are full changing rooms with showers & toilets available upstairs above the entrance hall.

How to get to the HQ: Cranfield is 3 to 4 miles from the M1.
From the north take J14 and turn left then right towards Moulsoe. Continue through towards Cranfield and turn left to Wharley End & University. The Sports Hall is at the end of the road on the left. It's a big white box. Don't panic if you miss the left to Wharley End - continue on until the roundabout and turn left there.
From the south take J13 and turn right over the M1 and at the roundabout turn right, under the A421 to Salford. Just as you enter Salford turn right to Cranfield, following the signs for the University (ignore other signs to Cranfield village). Go over the first roundabout and continue right and left through the Technology Centre. When you get to the mini roundabout next to the Murco station you will see the Sports hall on the left. It's a big white box.
For those coming north or south on the A1 when you get to the Black Cat roundabout turn onto the A421 bypassing Bedford and continue towards Milton Keynes taking the exit sliproad signposted to the M1 south. At the bottom of the sliproad turn right towards Salford and continue as above.

Car Parking
There is a brand new car park for the Sports Hall (the big white box below). Please enter via Lanchester Road and where there are also spaces in Lanchester Hall car parks nearby to the west and on the road away from the mini roundabout south of the Sports Hall. Do not park in College Road or University Way and do not block anyone in. Do not park on the grass area directly outside the Sports Hall, nor on the pathways leading to it.

Numbers and Signing-On
Please sign on and collect your numbers from the hall. Numbers Both body and arm numbers will be used. In accordance with Championship Conditions only numbers provided by the organiser should be used. Body numbers should be fitted in accordance with Regulation 16 and Arm Numbers should be fitted to the upper arm with the number facing forwards (not inwards). Please fix with pins and not tape. Please remember to come back to the HQ with your numbers to sign out after you have ridden.

To the start
From the Sports Hall turn left north through the University grounds along College Road. After approx. 1.1 mile you will get to the course. Turn right and after 100 yards turn left to go past the finish to the start. Please indicate to the timekeeper that you are simply riding to the start. The start less than a quarter of a mile from the junction. Allow up to 10 minutes to get to the start (at a decent 20mph average pace it would take under 5 mins, but it does drag a little for some of it).
Once you have finished please do NOT do a U-turn in the road, but continue past the start and on until just before the bend through Bourne End to turn Right to Cranfield (take care not to impede other riders still racing) and once in Cranfield turn Right back to the circuit passing the turn into Astwood Road to turn left back to the HQ.

Warming up on the road can be done to the south of the HQ. There are good viewing points just after Bourne End, about a mile after the start (conveniently there is a cyclist Café - the BikeBus - situated there, so please pop in to see them), up the hill into Astwood, at a couple of laybys on the A422 and up the drag to North Crawley. Please be aware that you should not follow riders on the course. If riding a bike or driving then please travel in the opposite direction. Do not spectate close to the start or finish points. Do not approach the timekeepers or marshals as they have to concentrate on the job at hand.
