Christopher McNamara continued his fine form with victory at the …a3crg Ham Barn Storming 10-mile time trial, while Kimberley Barfoot-Brace took the honours in the women’s event on Sunday morning.
The 2021 National 12-hour champion Barfoot-Brace, who finished third in this year’s event in August, topped the standings in 22-43, with promoting club rider Sarah Matthews setting 23-05 for second while a time of 24-07 helped her clubmate Claire Emons to the final spot on the podium.
“a3crg are one of the best organisers, always good vibes!” said Barfoot-Brace. “It was a very cold morning, but lots of smiles and banter to help warm you up!
“It was brilliant to end another season repping Team Bottrill with a win, as I’ve been struggling finding consistent form this year for one reason or another!
“I also want to say a big thank you to everyone who has made all these races happen this season.”
Riding for Sigma Sports Race Team, Christopher McNamara posted a time of 18-38 to beat brother and clubmate Simon McNamara who finished in 19-17, while Velorefined Rule 5 rider Kevin Tye did enough for third spot in 19-46.
McNamara now has nine wins from 12 CTT open events so far during a highly productive 2024 season, having won four of his last five time trials, including VTTA Surrey/Sussex on September 1.
McNamara sad after winning: “It was another really good promotion from …a3crg.
“A chilly morning but we got away with lighter winds than forecast.
“On this course I always think you need to hit it fairly hard out the blocks and try and hang on on the way back so that was my approach and it went well.
“I felt good on the day and held it well plus it’s always nice to get a one-two with my brother.”
In the road bike category, Adam Page (Paceline Race Team) was fastest in the open category in 21-12, with Jacob Crossley second in 22-41 for CGC.
The team prize went to Velorefined Rule 5 trio Kevin Tye, Stuart Hourigan and Andrew Meliak.
Riders were met with very cold conditions with earlier riders having the colder conditions and while the temperature increased slightly for the later riders it remained bitterly cold throughout the event despite avoiding rain throughout.
