Father Christmas himself made an appearance at the Kernow Racing Tean Santa Fun 10-mile time trial in Cornwall, as well as several other super heroes, and creatures of all shapes and sizes.
More than half the field wore fancy dress for this event, with much cheer as well as cheering as the riders tackled the S6/10 course near Tresillian on Sunday morning.
A damp but warm start greeted the riders, and despite the hindrance of wearing fancy dress there were still some impressive times for the time of year.
The Ivor Edmonds Memorial Cup was won by Aria Griffiths (Wheal Velocity) who was also the fastest junior female rider, just one of several awards handed out on the day.
Fastest rider was another youth rider from Wheal Velocity, Oliver Riches, who clocked 24-39 on his road bike, while Kernow Racing Team junior Luke Matthews was second fastest in 24-46 and his senior team-mate Michael Nicholas third with 25-38.
Team Boompods’ Hannah Bayes was fastest female, her time of 26-48 being al most a minute quicker than runner-up Rose Willis of St Austell Wheelers.
“It was a good turn out for a drizzly morning and another great event by Kernow Racing team,” said Bayes. “It made for a good opportunity to get the race bike back out and test for the legs as part of winter training.
“Next season I will mainly be focusing on the National Road Series with Team Boompods but hopefully I will have time for some time trials.”
In other categories Jason McGowan (Kernow Racing Team) was fastest veteran on actual time.
