Despite not being completely satisfied with their performances Chris Dyason (Cambridge CC) and Linda Dewhurst (RIDE REVOLUTION COACHING) were quickest on age adjusted time to take the top awards at the VTTA London & Home Counties 10.

Meanwhile, Nicholas Trbovic (Elysium Kalas Race Team) posted the quickest scratch time of the day in 17-45 and Lauren Creamer (Velo Fixers) the fastest woman (21-29).

Known as one of the quickest courses in the country the F11/10 attracted a stellar field as riders battled out and back along the A41 between Tring and Aylesbury.

The second of four legs saw competitors enjoy a descent and the finish coming before the climb on the final leg.

However, a slight wind and a deteriorating road surface meant that some riders were left disappointed by their times.

Medals were handed out to VTTA members with results calculated on age adjusted time.

Dyason, aged 76, was the best on age adjusted time with his time of 22-49 reduced to 17-53 on age adjusted.

A close battle silver saw Mick Stevens (Melton Olympic CC) post 22-30 which was reduced to 18-05, which was five seconds quicker than the adjusted time of Steven Cottington (Bath Cycling Club) in 18-10.

“It wasn’t a particularly fast day,” said Dyason, from Cambridge. “I wasn’t super-fast and I was hoping for something better.

“I was happy to end up with the win so I obviously wasn’t the only person to find it a bit slow.”

In the women’s event 65-year-old Dewhurst took a clear victory on age adjusted time stopping the clock in 22-40 which was reduced to 17-39.

Gillian Reynolds (Willesden CC) took silver with an age adjusted time of 19-07 which was two seconds quicker than Louise Robinson (Shaftesbury CC) taking bronze (19-09).

“It wasn’t as fast as I’d have liked, I struggled a bit today,” said Dewhurst. “I wasn’t happy with my time, but it’s nice to win on age adjusted time.

“Quite a few people were slower. I didn’t have a great ride, but it’s still nice to get the win. The course is fast, but the road is breaking up and the road surface is getting quite poor, uneven and bone-shaking.”

Mike Debney (Verulam Really Moving) was the best road bike on age adjusted time with the 42-year-olds time adjusted to 20-34.

Jamie Bishop (Newhall CC) finished second road bike on adjusted time in 22-16 and Richard Tully (Elite Cycling) was third (22-46)

Ruth Stapleton (Newhall CC) was the quickest veteran woman riding a road bike with her time of 26-05 adjusted to 23-32.

Meanwhile, the quickest tandem pair on scratch and age adjusted time was Ian Greenstreet and Rachael Elliott (Newbury Velo) with their 18-46 reduced to 16-07.

Sole tricycle competitor Wayne Baker (Team Echelon) saw his time of 27-15 reduced to 24-19.

The scratch competition was closely fought with Trbovic’s winning time of 17-45 just five seconds quicker than Joshua Williams (Team Bottrill).

Last rider away Trbovic also won the West Kent RC event over eight miles earlier this season and posted an open personal best time for victory.

Completing the scratch podium positions was Ryan Witchell (Royal Leamington Spa Cycling Club) in 18-46.

In the women’s event Creamer has been on fine form this season with four open wins to her name and made it five this time out.

The Velo Fixers rider stopped the clock in 21-29 which was 21 seconds faster than Louise Robinson (Shaftesbury CC) in second (21-50) and veteran Dewhurst in third (22-40).

The road bike category was also closely battle on scratch with Scott Leeson (Onyx RT) taking victory in 20-15 which was just 20 seconds quicker than Ben Dodd (Royal Leamington Spa Cycling Club) in 20-35 and Debney was third (20-39).

Stapleton was also the quickest woman in the road bike category with her 26-05 quicker than Hannah Makins (Mickey Cranks Cycling Club) in 28-41.
