Lois Jarvis (Muckle Cycle Club) took her first victory of the season after battling tough outward conditions in the GTR Return to Life P/B Streamline 25, while Christopher Isats (Berwick Wheelers CC) was quickest in the open event.

Meanwhile, Lewis Timmins (Vector Racing) took his first open win of the season in the road bike category and Sarah Wann (EMC Cycling) was the fastest woman.

The M254 saw competitors start outside Ponteland before heading out and back along the A696 to the turn at Kirkwhelpington.

Jarvis, aged 39 and from Tynemouth, took her first open victory of the season after posting a winning time of one hour, six minutes and 42 seconds.

The Muckle Cycle Club rider won six open events last season and after two previous podium positions opened her winning account for 2024 this time out.

Quickest in the women’s road bike category, Sarah Wann (EMC Cycling), was also second overall after posting a time of 1-09-14.

Completing the women’s overall podium positions was fellow road bike competitor Caroline Cunningham (North Tyneside Riders CC) in 1-13-46.

Chris Isats.

“It certainly was tough going on the way out with that head wind to battle against, but an easier return,” said Jarvis. “Thanks to GTR Return to Life, the timekeepers and volunteers for a great event.”

Isats was the quickest on scratch and veteran on age adjusted time after posting a winning time of 54-27.

It was the 50-year-old’s first open victory of the season after placing third in the Team VC 13 and fourth in last weekend’s North Tyneside Riders 50.

A close battle for second saw Daniel Kane (Muckle Cycle Club) finish in 55-24 which was 25 seconds faster than Julian MacBride (Team Kirkley Cycles).

“Before I left home this morning, I said to my wife that I was feeling quite good today so needless to say, I’m very pleased with the result,” said Isats.

“It was brutal on the way out to the turn. I think everyone has had a tough morning.

“A 25-mile time trial is probably my favourite distance – I was hanging on a bit in the 50 I rode last weekend and nearly sacked it off after the first lap!”

In the open road bike category Timmins clocked a time of 1-01-55 which was two minutes after than his nearest challenger.

The 37-year-old placed fifth in the Derwentside 9.9-mile event earlier this month on his only other open outing this campaign.

Reifen Racing rider Brian Johnson placed second road bike in 1-03-36 ahead of his team-mate Kenny McLellan in third (1-08-47).
