Peter Allen registered his first win of the 2024 season with success in the open category at the …a3crg Rogate Rumble road bike 17-mile time trial on Sunday morning in West Sussex, with victory in the women’s event going to Sien Van der Plank in the road bike-only event.

Riding for Team Velo Sportif, a time of 43-32 helped Allan to see off competition from Andover Wheelers’ Matthew Buckley in 43-58, while Matt Phipps-Taylor was just over a minute back from the leader in 44-36.

This was Allan’s first success from seven time trials, having previously managed a runners-up spot at the Farnham Road Club 25-mile four-up time team trial in July last year, as well as a seventh in the Farnham Road Club 10 last June.

In the women’s event, Van der Plank (New Forest CC) was the only female to go under 50 minutes, finishing in 49-47, ahead of Louisa Cooper (PDQ Cycle Coaching) in 51-26 while the final spot on the podium went to Danielle Forshaw of Velo Club Venta in 53.37.

This event, run on the P889-17.5 course, is a looped circuit that starts near the Harting Combe crossroads and heads east towards Milland, continuing onwards then turning left at Linch Church and northwest past Iron Down to turn southbound at Liphook through Rake and Bill Brow , and a left turn at Sheet will see riders pass through Rogate to complete the circuit on Combe Hill just south of the start line.
