Paul Pardoe (Peterborough CC) stomped to victory by almost four minutes on a new course at the Lea Valley CC Crescent 30, while Gill Carter (Essex Roads CC) was the quickest woman.

Pardoe, aged 43, continued his impressive season by taking a fourth open victory of the season in a time of 1-04-13.

The E1/30E was an emergency course which was used to due to roadworks on the E1B, E33 and E2 routes.

The new course started and finished near Wendens Ambo and then heading out on the B1383 and then B184 to the turn at Little Chesterford.

Pardoe also won the Northampton & District CA 10 last month and was quickest in his age category at the National Close Circuit Championship.

In the absence of pre-race favourite Timothy Torrie, the Peterborough CC rider was a clear winner by almost four minutes.

The battle behind saw Samuel Thienel (Elysium Kalas Race Team) finish in 1-08-07 which was 41 seconds faster than Paul Turton (Team Vision Racing – Silverhook) in 1-08-48.

“It was good,” said Pardoe. “It was cold at the start and a breeze on the return leg. It was a nice and honest course which was rolling up and down, it made you think about the best way to ride the course.

“That’s my fourth open win and fifth age category win of the season, it has gone well. I’ve got one race remaining which will be the ECCA 25 championships later this month.”

Fellow veteran rider Cater, aged 57, posted a time of 1-22-48 to win the women’s event by over a minute.

Cater also won the Basildon CC sporting 25-mile event earlier this month and took her second win in as many events this time out.

Rachel Halamandres (Basildon CC) finished second woman in 1-24-02 and fastest female road bike competitor Paulina Mozal (Chelmer CC) was third overall (1-26-02).

The quickest road bike competitor in the open category was Jamie Bishop (Newhall CC) whose time of 1-15-13 was fast enough for eight overall.
