Deborah Moss continued her fine start to the season with victory in the women’s category at the Kent Valley Road Club 10-mile time trial in Lancashire, while Sebastian Grindley was quickest in the open category in Saturday evening’s event.

Riding for Springfield Financial Racing Team, Moss set an unmatched 22-07 to win with Lily Brindle (Brother UK – Team OnForm) and Susan Semple (Legato Racing Team LRT) in second and third in 22-34 and 23-14 respectively.

In the open event, North Cheshire Clarion rider Grindley posted 19-17 for victory, with Tristan Pilling (360cycling) runner-up in 19-23, while joint-third was taken by Richard Bideau (Pendle Forest Cycling Club) and Joe Cosgrove (Team Bottrill) both finishing in 19-46.

“I am really happy to win,” said Moss. “There were quite a few ladies racing which is great to see.

“For a change the weather was nice, sunny and not too warm, but there was a tough headwind to contend with on the out leg, which is slightly longer than the return leg.

“I did the best I could into the wind and then tried to take advantage of the tailwind on the way back.

“Grateful thanks to Kent Valley Road Club for organising the event and all the marshals, helpers and timekeepers.”

In the road bike category Ste Bolton came out on top with the Giant-Kendal-Sidas.uk rider posting 22-01 and a time of 22-18 seeing Alex Thomas (Kent Valley Road Club) into second place.

The event used the popular L1015 course on the A590 from Levens to Lindale and back.
