Conrad Moss picked up his first victory of the season with success at the Mid Devon Cycling Club 25-mile time trial, incorporating the South West Championship, with Katya Tune triumphing in the female grouping on Sunday morning.

Riding for Nopinz, Moss clocked 50-01 over the course to claim victory by 80 seconds from runner-up Luke Osborne (Banbridge Cycling Club) who finished in 51-21, while City Cycle Couriers rider Jon Tune clinched third spot in 53-27.

“It was nice to take a win today, after being so far behind with racing this year,” said Moss, after winning his first event of the year at his third attempt.

“It was a rare still day with only light winds, and an early start meant a chilly start with no traffic which was nice.

“It was only my third event this year and first 25 for about a year, so I was fairly cautious with my effort as I wasn't convinced I could go all in as I usually would.

“I finished pretty well though and it was a confidence boost as my power was okay.

“However the climbing confirmed that I have some timber to lose if I'm to get back to previous levels.

“This season will be short and low key - more a case of ticking over.”

In the women’s event Tune continued her fine form with a time of 1:05-31 for victory, the City Cycle Couriers rider seeing off competition from Talita Ancona (Total Tri Training) who set 1:09-21, while PDQ Cycle Coaching’s Lindsay Philp did enough for third with 1:14-07.

This event, run on the S4/25 course, is an out-and-back circuit that starts southwest of Buckfastleigh and heads northeast on the A38 towards Exeter, passing Buckfastleigh, Ashburton and Heathfield before reaching Chudleigh Bridge where riders turn to follow the route back on the A38 and finish just north of the start line.
