Steve Lampier (Kernow Racing Team) broke the course record on his way to winning the Kernow Racing Team 10, while Eve Sealy (Tri-Logic) was quickest woman.
There were also road bike victories for Alex Boswell (Kernow Racing Team) and Beth Berriman (Penzance Wheelers) in the open and women’s events respectively.
The S37/10 course saw competitors head out and back along the B3293 through the Goonhilly Downs to the turn past Garras.
The event attracted a record 78 entries including 23 women and 30 road bikes. Kernow Racing have put the increase in road bike entries down to a league they have designed over their four open events.
The course record was broken by Lampier who has returned to racing following a three-year absence and it was his first event as a veteran rider.
Lampier wanted to thank Kernow Racing and said that it was good to be back after a hard winter of training.
The Kernow Racing Team rider looks forward to a season of casual racing while focusing on his new job at the AG2R development squad.
Matty Beecher (05/03) finished second topping the clock in 21-28 which was 27 seconds quicker than fastest junior Nicholas Makin (Mid Devon Cycling Club/Kernow Racing Team) in 21-55 whose time was a new junior course record.
The women’s event was won by Sealy whose time of 25-17 was over two minutes quicker than her nearest competitor.
Sealy also won on her last open outing in the Saint Piran 19 last season and opened her account for 2024 in convincing style.
Sophie Butcher (05/03) finished second in 27-24 which was 22 seconds faster than Rose Willis (St Austell Whs CC) in 27-46.
Hosting club Kernow Racing Team also had success in the road bike category with Alex Boswell going quickest in a time of 22-24.
Olly Bayliss (C&C) was second fastest road bike in 25-00, while Kevin Dawson (Penzance Wheelers) completed the podium positions a further 18 seconds back.
The quickest junior on a road bike was Oliver Riches (Wheal Velocity) who covered the course in a time of 25-31.
Penzance Wheelers rider Berriman was the fastest female road bike competitor stopping the clock in 27-54.
Eloise Singham (Kernow Racing Team) finished second in the category in 28-27 and Karen McClay (Tri Logic Cornwall) finished third (29-15).
The quickest female junior on a road bike was Holly Tregear (Kernow Racing Team) who recorded a time of 34-32.
