Nathalie Brohan and Marc Anderson were fastest female and male riders respectively at the VC Glasgow South 22-mile time trial near Stewarton in East Ayrshire on Sunday.

Brohan (Vanelli-Project GO) covered the course in 1-04-19 to finish as fastest female by over ten minutes from runner-up Emma Rogerson (Glenmarnock Wheelers).

Anderson (GTR-Return to Life p/b Streamline) took the win in a time of 52-03, 1-47 better than Barry McColl (Peebles CC) in second, while GTR-Return to Life’s dominance continued with Tony Scott and Joe Hands in third and fourth positions.

Anderson – who turns his attentions to the Tour of the Campsies 26-miler this Sunday – said afterwards: “I’m really happy with the win, I really enjoy this sporting course.

“There was a very stiff headwind on the way out which made the return leg super fast.

“Thanks to VC Glasgow South for a great event. It was also great to see my team-mates taking top spots at other events over the weekend.”

His victory comes two weeks after Anderson secured his first open time trial victory of the season at the Ayr Roads 15-mile Pennyglen hilly time trial, but he has been a prolific rider throughout the season with second spot in the GTR-Return to Life 31.5-miler in July as well as the Cronberry Classic 17-mile event promoted by Loudoun Road Club in April.

Fastest female Brohan has been in good form this season, and was part of the winning trio in the women’s category at the GTR Return to Life three-up Scottish Team Time Trial Championships near Irvine in July.

On that occasion she teamed up with Vanelli colleague Alexandra Hayden and Glasgow University CC’s Miriam Gilbride. Last month, she was fastest female on a road bike and third overall at the Ayr Roads Pennyglen hilly time trial over 15 miles.

She is next due to be in time trial action at the Bute Wheelers two-up 20 on September 14.

The event used the WW22/01 course which begins near Stewarton and heads south towards Kilmaurs, turning north through Fenwick and up to the edge of Newton Mearns before looping back down towards the finish north of Stewarton.
