Petrie and Mcmillan win at Kennoway RC 10

Chris Petrie claimed his first open time trial win at the Kennoway Road Club 10-mile time trial in Fife on Sunday morning, with Margaret Mcmillan triumphing in the women’s grouping.

Having ridden 12 events since debuting at Glasgow Nightingale CC 10-mile time trial on July 25 2021, Petrie’s previous best finishes were second at Kennoway Road Club 10-mile time trial on July 21 2021, then again at Ryan’s Bike Surgery 10-mile time trial on august 28 2022 and Deeside Thistle CC 25-mile time trial on April 2 2024 as well as Kennoway RC 10 on June 4 2023

In total, Petrie has ridden the WE10/02 four times now and finally has his first success.

The Aberdeen Wheelers rider set 20-08 to finish ahead of Nico Anelli (Real Guts Racing) in 20-37 while a timeof 20-55 helped Angus Wilson (Dundee Thistle) to the final spt on the podium.

In the women’s event, Mcmillan (Deeside Thistle Cycling Club) posted 24-24 to win from the 26-42 registered by Mariam Rennet (Kinross Cycling Club) and the 26-50 that saw Liz Ball from Edinburgh Road Club take third place and first female veteran.

Scott hunter was first road bike in 22-36 for Berwick Wheelers Cycling Club, also claiming eighth place overall.

This event, run on the WE10/02 course, is a triangular circuit that starts just south of Freuchie and heads north on the A92, past Ladybank and turning west at the A92 roundabout past Collesie Quarry then turning southbound along Birnie and Gaddon Lochs Nature Reserve, through Edenstown and along to finish just north of Freuchie.
