Matthew Bottrill earned a first time trial win since May with victory in the open category at the Leamington C&AC 10-mile time trial on Sunday morning, while Alice Edwards was quickest woman.
Riding for his own Team Bottrill, Bottrill earned a fourth success from nine rides so far in the 2024 season, adding to his opening day success at the Kettering CC 20, plus victories at Sheffrec CC two-up 10 and the Matlock CC 10 in May.
His time of 20-08 for this event near Thurlaston in Warwickshire gave him the win ahead of Ryan Witchell (Royal Leamington Spa CC) who posted 20-37, with a time of 21-17 helping Karl Norris of 360RVT to the final spot on the podium.
On his win, Bottrill said: “All went well today and there was a tail wind on the outward leg which I covered at 33mph and then a solid headwind on the return, which really killed the speed I had.
“I was testing out a new bike so was very happy to take the win although I was some way off my course record of 18:25 but still not bad.”
In the women’s category Edwards, riding for Rugby Racing CC) finished ahead of the field in 25-17, with Gabriela McKinnon (Coventry Triathletes) second in 27-45 and third place going to Lezley Moran (Redditch Road and Path Cycling Club) in 32-16.
In the road bike category Luke Allen (Team Enable – MI Racing) was quickest in 21-59, while a time of 32-16 saw Moran finish as fastest female road bike.
This event, run on the K11/10T course, is an out-and-back circuit that starts just north of Thurlaston and heads northwest on the A45 past Stretton on Dunsmore before reaching Ryton-on-Dunsmore, where riders turn and follow the route back to finish just southeast of the start line.
