Tim Strickland earned his third win of the season at the Sussex Nomads Ditchling Beacon hill climb on Sunday morning, while Michelle Sellars sealed victory in the women’s category.

Riding for Go Fast Turn Left, Strickland posted 4-24 to take the win ahead of junior Cesare Masset (Brighton Mitre CC) who secured second with 4-42, while George Bentley (Brighton Mitre CC) finished narrowly behind in 4-42.9 to earn third place.

A fine ride from Strickland means he now has three hill climb victories to his name this year after claiming titles at CC Basingstoke and Kingston Wheelers CC earlier in the season.

In the women’s category Sellars topped the standings with 6-28, ahead of Wendy Mathie (Penge Cycle Club) who recorded 6-38 to finish second, while host club rider Hayley Plummer sealed the final podium position in 6-41.

Espoir Fraser Parnham (University of Bristol CC) clocked 4-53 to finish in sixth, while Chris Baker of Sussex Revolution VC was the first veteran to cross the line in 4-54, a time good enough for seventh position overall.

The junior category saw 14-year old Finley Andrews (4T+ Cyclopark) produce a fine performance to finish 12th overall, clocking a time of 5-12 in the process.

This hill climb event, run on the GH/90 course, begins on Ditchling Bostal just south of the junction with Underhill Lane. Ascending Ditchling Beacon for approximately 1500 yards, it finishes just past the car park adjacent to the summit.
