Joanna Cebrat returned to winning ways with a triumph in the women’s category at the Manchester and District Ladies Cycling Association 25-mile time trial on Saturday afternoon, while Casper Von Folsach was the fastest in the open category.
Riding for 360cycling, Cebrat posted 1:01-39 to seal victory ahead of Claire Harrison (Congleton CC – MyWindsock) in 1:02-42, while a time of 1:03-02 saw Gillian Shaw (Seamons CC) seal the final spot on the podium.
This victory sees Cebrat pick up another victory after an eighth-placed finish at the National 100 Mile Championship last weekend and third at the Kent Valley Road Club 15.1 the week before that. She also won at the Barrow Central Wheelers TT in April as well as the Rossendale RC event in February.
On her win, Cebrat said: “I always enjoy taking part in MDLTTA events as they attract great women’s fields with 17 entries on this occasion!
“I was really surprised to have won the event but it looks like Alice Taylor sadly had a crash and Emily Martin didn't turn up hence a much slower rider won.
“I had a good ride on tired legs - I have not yet fully recovered from the National 100 last Sunday and I probably shouldn't have done a season 10 mile PB last Thursday either but I was making the most of good weather.”
In the open category road bike rider Von Folsach (HUUB WattShop) clocked 51-13 while David James Williams of Velotik Racing Team set 52-02 to narrowly edge Manchester Bicycle Club’s Alexander Royle into third, a second back in 52-03 in a thrilling contest.
The winner of the combined prize was Sally Cunliffe partnered by David James Williams, Velotik RT, with a combined time of 1:57-57.
The female paralympic tandem of Corrine Hall and Lora Fachie (Storey Racing) finished the course in 53-50 and rode this event in preparation for the Paris Paralympics in which they have been nominated to ride two track events, the road race and the time trial.
Fastest female road bike was claimed by Alice Larkin (High Peak Road Team) in 1:05-26 with Sally Maitland (Ratae Road Club) runner up in 1:07-39, while open road bike went to Von Folsach with Luke Buswell (Manchester Bicycle Club) in 57-12.
Cunliffe was quickest on Age Adjusted Time in 51-22 while quickest handicap was Larkin in 29-21.
Conditions were quite good, with the expected rain not starting until well after the event finished, but the course was not the best for tandems with plenty of turns and an island on the route.
This event, run on course J2/9, is a looped circuit that starts in Jodrell Bank and heads northbound on the A535, curving northeast at the junction with the A357 and past Chelford and Marthall then at Ollerton turning southeast, before going southbound at Holmes Chapel Road through Allostock then Cranage, eastwards onto Twemlow Green to continue onto complete the first loop before continuing for another half-loop and finish just north of Allostock.
