Maxwell Hereward earned his second win of the season at the Weaver Valley CC 25-mile time trial on Saturday, with Emily Martin claiming victory in the women’s category.

360cycling rider Hereward posted an unbeaten 52-25 to finish ahead of Marcel Schubert (Zurbaran Racing) who recorded 53-13, while Casper Von Folsach of HUUB WattShop clocked a fine 53-20 to finish in third and as the fastest competitor on a road bike.

The espoir rider was fresh off a win at the Warrington Road Club 25-mile time trial last month and managed to make it back-to-back victories in Cheshire, finishing just under a minute ahead of his nearest rival.

“It was a hard course to maintain speed on, with so many roundabouts as well as riders to contend with,” said Hereward. “But it was a good day for me. My legs felt good and the new setup for the bike felt good so hopefully more to come.”

In the women’s category, Martin (Team Bottrill) finished as the fastest rider with a time of 58-29, ahead of Velo Fixers rider Lauren Creamer who sealed second in 1.00-11, while 1.05-50 helped Claire Harrison of Congleton CC to the final podium position.

On her win, Martin said: “It’s great that the National 25 is to be a local one, so after the National 100 was delayed a week I signed straight up to ride the course this weekend.

“It’s tricky one with so many roundabouts and definitely a Cheshire route! Great to get the win on a very windy day.”

Richard Shaw (Seamons CC) was the fastest veteran in the 50-59 category, recording 55-57, while Stephen I'Anson of Buxton CC/Sett Valley Cycles topped the standings in the 60 plus with a time of 1.04-44.

It was a good day all round for 360cycling as they also took home the team event prize with a combined time of 2.45-19.

This 25-mile event, run on the J2/21 course, begins in Salters Lane in Lower Withington where it heads south to Congleton. After u-turning at Radnor Roundabout, it heads back north before finishing just west of its start location.
