Toby Williams took victory from a highly competitive field at the Manchester Wheelers 10-mile time trial in Cheshire on Saturday morning, with Maddie Leech finishing as fastest female.

Riding for Velotik Racing Team, Williams helped the outfit secure a one-two finish with a time of 2-35, while clubmate Tom Davies was runner-up in 20-43 with third place going to Ste Bolton in 21-04 – the Giant-Kendal-Sidas.uk rider edging out Matt Ivings (Buxton CC/Sett Valley Cycles) into fourth place by just one second in 21-05.

In the women’s event, Leech (Huddersfield Star Wheelers) was the dominant performer in 21-55, almost two minutes ahead of Congleton CC/MyWindsock’s Alice Taylor in 23-41, while a time of 25-18 helped team-mate Gail Lowe secure the final spot on the podium.

Elsewhere, first female road bike went to Francesca Muir-Harris (Total Tri Training) in 27-25, with Isaac Russell (Team PB Performance) named the first open road bike and top junior going to Jacob Bradbury (Manchester Wheelers) with a time of 23-46.

This event, run on the J10/1 course, is an out-and-back that starts just south of Buxworth on the A6 and heads east until reaching the Bowden Lane roundabout, where riders turn and follow the route back along the A6 towards Stockport, before taking the third exit at Bridgemont Island, back towards Buxton, past the start line and turning one more time at Bowden Island for the final stretch to the finish line.
