VC Venta’s Dani Forshaw and John Franklin (Twickenham CC) were fastest female and male riders at the Farnborough and Camberley CC Christmas 10-mile time trial in Hampshire on Saturday.
Forshaw clocked 27-31 on her road bike to take the win in the women’s event by 31 seconds from Lisa Davies (VMCC powered by Y Beic), while Franklin clocked a time of 20-43 to win the open category by ten seconds from runner-up veteran Colin McDermott (Festival RC), while paracyclist Ben Payne (Maidenhead and District CC) clocked 21-00 for third overall.
After her win, Forshaw said: “As always, this was a friendly and well organised event by Farnborough & Camberley CC! Thank you to the organisers and volunteers.
“It's a good course with a few little drags and a smooth run into the finish. We were lucky with the weather - dry and with a slight headwind on the return.
“For me, it was a productive way to get back into training after an unexpected long five weeks off the bike due to an injury. I just got lucky with the win.
“I'm looking forward to starting some winter training now, hopefully a couple of weeks in the sun and better form in the spring for the sporting time trials!”
In other categories fastest junior was Noah Horton (Wokingham CC) with 25-46, while top youth rider was Ollie Laurie of Aylesbury CC who covered the course near Bentley in 33-48.
And top tandem was the promoting club’s Rachel Tomkins and Hannah Lucas who clocked 37-37 to take that prize.
The event used the popular H10/8 course which uses the A31 Alton bypass, beginning near Bentley and heading down just beyond Holybourne before turning and heading back up.
