Liam Maybank continued his fine form with victory at the North Hampshire RC/Reading 10-mile time trial on Sunday, while Claire Emons claimed top prize in the women’s category.

Twickenham CC rider Maybank set an unmatched 19-58 to finish ahead of Peter Allen (Team Velo Sportif) who took second spot with a time of 20-50, while Jack Brown of Islington Cycling Club finished in the final podium position with 20-57.

This is Maybank’s fourth win of the season and his second in consecutive weeks having claimed victory at the Chichester City Riders 25-mile time trial seven days earlier.

“It was quite windy,” said Maybank. “There was an extra mile on the return leg that faced into the wind as well as a final ramp to deal with, so a good set of conditions for the more aero riders. It was nice to get another win and avoid the weather that hit yesterday!”

In the women's category Emons (...a3crg) topped the standings with 24-58, finishing over a minute in front of host club rider Hannah Quay (Reading CC) who set 26-26, while Gill Reynolds of Willesden CC secured third with a time of 28-46.

On her win, Emons said: “It was nice to get the win despite not really having the best of rides.

“The wind picked up and slightly changed direction from earlier in the morning which made the longer return leg hard work but a win is a win and it didn’t rain. Thank you to North Hampshire and Reading CC for putting on a well run event.”

Stewart House of Arctic Aircon RT was the fastest rider in the road bike category with 23-40, a time good enough for thirteenth overall, while the only junior in the field, Theo Hester (Avid Sport), clocked 21-37 to finish fifth in the overall standings.

This ‘out and back’ 10-mile event, run on the H10/1C course, starts just east of Woolhampton, where it travels along Bath Road before turning on the edge of Theale to finish west of its starting position.
