Nick Richards earned a first open time trial win in more than two years with success at the Farnborough and Camberley Cycling Club 25 on Saturday morning, with Danielle Forshaw finishing as fastest female.
Riding for Ride Revolution Coaching, Richards set an unbeaten 50-43 to live up to his Spindata pre-race placing of first and outperform his time prediction by 13 seconds, although he fell short of Chris Bartley’s course record of 47-58.
Richards did see off the challenge of Pete Allan (Team Velo Sportif) who was nine seconds back in 50-52, while a time of 52-19 ensured that Paceline RT rider Ben Elliot sealed third spot on the day.
This is Richards’ first win since triumphing at the Reading Cycling Club 50-mile time trial on May 15 2022, and his first race since placing third at the Didcot Phoenix CC 10 last August.
Quickest road bike in the open category went to Jacob Crossley (CGC) in 59-10.
In the women’s event, Forshaw, riding a road bike for Velo Club Venta, set 1:14-01 to take the top spot.
This 25-mile event, run on the H25/8 course, starts near Bentley and uses the A31 between Alton and Farnham which is covered twice.
