Paul Pardoe

Paul Pardoe picked up his fourth win of the season with victory at the Northampton & District Cycling Association 10-mile time trial on Saturday afternoon, while Linda Hubbard finished top of the standings in the women’s event.

Having claimed victory in the Northampton and District Cycling Association 9.8-mile time trial on April 20, then winning at the Leo 30-mile time trial on May 11 before more success at the Northampton and District Cycling Association 12.8-mile time trial on course NC13C on July 7, Pardoe now has a fourth win from 12 events this campaign.

Riding for Peterborough Cycling Club, Pardoe clocked an unmatched 21-15 to see off the challenge of Jack Patmore (George Fox Cycling Solutions) in 22-01, while George Fox (George Fox Cycling Solutions) posted 22-33 for the final spot on the podium, while fourth saw a tie in 23015 for Jack Eastman-Nye (George Fox Cycling Solutions) and Alex Hodgkinson (Ilkeston Cycle Club).

On his win, Pardoe said: “I was very pleased to take the win yesterday.

“I felt I had some good form following 9th place at the National Circuit Champs down at Goodwood last weekend so happy to convert that into a result in the last of the N&DCA series events I can race this season.

“It was a very sporting course with no real flat sections and some fast technical descents, so it was a case of going hard and recovering when you could.

“I thought it was a challenging course that I enjoy racing, despite the awful road surface for most of the first third.”

In the women’s event, Hubbard (Welland Valley Cycling Club) managed victory in 27-43, while a time of 29-19 helped Maria Cayford to the runners-up spot for Kettering Cycling Club, while Lynne Scofield (Rockingham Forest Wheelers) was third in 33.40.

Fox was quickest road bike in the open category, while Scofield secured that honour in the female grouping.

This event, held on the NC16N/10 course, is a looped circuit that starts just north of Naseby and heads north on Naseby Hill before turning westbound just before Clipston to pass through Sibbertoft, then heading southbound onto the A5199, then at Welford turning for the last stretch to finish just west of the start on Welford Road.
