Euan Adam earned his third win from seven races so far this season with victory at the Darlington CC 10-mile time trial on Sunday morning, while Helen Chalton was the quickest female.
Riding for Durham City Velo, Adam set an unbeaten 20-46 to live up to his billing as pre-race Spindata favourite, finishing exactly one minute ahead of runner-up Matthew Cole (Richmond CC) who clocked 21-46, while a time of 22-18 helped Matt Hill (Zurbaran Racing) to the final spot on the podium.
Adam can add this win to his previous success this season at the Yorkshire Cycling Federation 10-mile time trial on March 16 and the 10-mile Otley CC time trial on April 20.
On his win, Adam said: “I didn’t come in with any expectations, I had a very rough last month or two on the bike.
“The new course is amazing, the surface is a joy to race on, and as always the organising team was stellar, so I just gritted my teeth and did what I could in the hope that it would be enough.”
In the women’s event, Chalton set 29-50 to finish as fastest female.
Fastest road bike went to Ian Hodgson (Darlington Cycling Club) in 23-07, with Brian Ward (Protech Velo) runner-up after setting 23-24.
In the two-up event Jonathan Robinson (Army Cycling) and James Dickson (AIMS Cycling) were quickest in 21-44, ahead of Fietsen Tempo pair Colin Holt and Elliott Holt in 23-24.
