Jennifer Hudson earned her third win of the season at the University of Bristol CC hill climb on Saturday morning, while Ben Millar sealed victory in the open category.

FTP (Fulfil the Potential) Race Team rider Hudson clocked 3-41 to top the standings ahead of Natalie Grinczer (Roland), who finished runner-up in 3-47, while Grace Reynolds of Brother Uk - Team OnForm secured third position with 3-54.

It is a third win in succession for Hudson after she sealed back-to-back titles at Minehead CC hill climbing events last month.

In the open category, Millar (Primera-Team Jobs) was crowned champion in 2-52, staving off competition from reigning national champion Andrew Feather (HuntBikeWheels.com) who set 2-56 to finish second, while Gabe Dellar sealed the final podium position in 2-59 (Stolen Goat Race Team).

The Primera-Team Jobs rider outperformed his Spindata predicted finish to topple pre-race favourite Feather and clinch the title in his first CTT event of the season.

“I am super pleased to make it a hat-trick of wins at Belmont Hill climb in consecutive years,” said Millar.

“It was an incredibly competitive field with some of the best hill climbers in the UK, so to take the win makes it incredibly special.

“There was a slight headwind on the climb which made pacing the effort so key.

“The crowds and DJ at the top of climb were absolutely mega and it was a great event organised by University of Bristol Cycling Club.

“A Polka Dot Jersey was the cherry on top to finish a mega day. A massive thank you to all the sponsors and people who support me, let’s keep having fun.”

Joshua Hull of Elevate RT was the first espoir rider to cross the line in 3-08, a time which saw finish fifth, while host club and fastest female espoir competitor Katherine Barnes finished just outside the top three in 3-59.

In the veteran’s category, Kevin Thomas of Bradford-on-Avon CC was crowned champion with 3-22, sealing 18th place in the process, while Louisa Cooper’s time of 5-03 saw her earn fastest female veteran and 17th position overall.

Angus Collard (Portishead Cycling Club) and Elen Ruck (Avid Sport) took home the junior titles with times of 3:26 and 4-30, respectively.

This closed road hill climb event, run on the UH45 course, begins on Belmont hill lane adjacent to the B3130 junction before ascending Belmont Hill for 0.86 miles.
