Burton enjoyed a relatively successful season in 2023, earning nine victories from a total of 19 events across the calendar year, alongside a runners-up spot on the same course at the Paceline RT Sporting 15-mile time trial on April 16 las year.
“This was another terrific promotion from the team at Paceline, and I’m happy to take the win in my final tune-up race for the National Road Bike Championships in two weeks.
“It’s a really fun course with a bit of everything in it, and we were lucky with great weather. I’ve really enjoyed doing all the early season races on my road bike and am excited to see how I fare against some big names in the nationals.”
In the women’s event, Hughes (Onyx RT) clocked 44-01 to seal top spot ahead of Kingston Wheelers’ Teresa Goddard in 49-24, who took the runners-up placing.
This event, run on course GS/483, is a looped circuit that starts just south of Dorking and sees riders head southbound on the A24 towards Beare Green and then past Capel, turning eastbound and then northbound to complete the final part of the loop through Newdigate to finish just east of the start line.
