Julian Ramsbottom and Neil Cleminshaw could not be separated at the top of the standings in the open category at the Sowerby Sunday Club 10-mile time trial on Sunday morning in Yorkshire.
After a tense ride Cleminshaw – who set off ten minutes after Ramsbottom – denied his rival the win he had been predicted by Spindata pre-race and outperformed his estimated time by three seconds, while in contrast to Ramsbottom dropped 14 seconds.
In the end both registered 20-14 to share the spoils, with Cleminshaw’s clubmate Stuart Henderson sealing third spot in 20-29.
This was Cleminshaw’s 17th ride of a busy campaign, in which he registered a fourth victory but a first since triumphing at the Yorkshire Coast Clarion Cycling Club 19.6-mile time trial on May 4 2024, to go alongside wins at Darlington Cycling Club 25-mile time trial on May 7 and at Bramley Wheelers Cycling Club 10-mile time trial on April 14.
In turn, Ramsbottom now has a first win since the Sheffrec Cycling Club 25 in May last year.
First road bike was earned by Chris Dyke of Team Lifting Gear Products in 21-57, which was good enough to help him to tenth place overall.
This event, run on the V210 course, starts just south of Rainton and heads south until turning at the Dishforth Interchange, turning northbound on the A168 past Topcliffe, reaching the B1448 interchange and then turning to follow the route back to the finish just north of Dishforth.
