Gwyneth Parry triumphed in the female category at the Fibrax Wrexham Horseshoe Pass hill climb on Sunday morning, with Andy Cunningham quickest in the open category.
Riding for Stolen Goat Race Team, Parry finished in 13-21 ahead of Penny Thorn (Port Sunlight Wheelers) in 14-06, while a time of 15-20 helped Rhian Pierce (Ruthin CC) to the final spot in the podium.
In the open event Cunningham topped the charts in 8-58, beating Mule Cycling Club’s Dave Scott in 9-45 and Laurence Fryer-Taylor (Macclesfield Wheelers) just a second back in 9-46.
In the Veteran 40-49 category Luke Taylor (Stolen Goat Race Team) was quickest in 11-11, with Pierce the fastest woman in the same category at 15-20.
Mark Lovatt (Congleton Cycling Club) posted 11-09 to win the Veteran 50-59 category, with Port Sunlight heelers rider Penny Thorn the top placed female.
Jan Kardasz and Sally Cunliffe were quickest open and female rider in 13-06 and 17-38 respectively in the Veteran 60-69 group.
In the Veteran 70-79 category, John Williams (Rhos on Sea Cycling Club) and Margaret Docking (Ruthin Cycling Club) were winners in 15-46 and 18-03 respectively.
Fastest youth was Joe Kendall (North Cheshire Clarion) in 14-51, with a time of 14-13 helping Jack Young (Oswestry Paragon) to fastest espoir and Gwyneth Parry (Stolen Goat Race Team) quickest female espoir in 13-21.
Velotik Race Team claimed the team prize thanks to the trio of Chris Mann, Guy Butterworth and David Williams, who posted 9.50, 10.52 and 12.09 respectively.
Riders faced challenging conditions on the course, with strong wind and rain at times at the summit, while some riders experienced very little wind coming up the Pass and some riders escaped the rain.
This event was held on course DHC/1 near Llangollen, which runs for 2.2 miles and starts on the A452, heading northbound and finishing at the summit of Horseshoe Pass.
