Nicholas Trbovic

Nicholas Trbovic (Elysium Kalas Race Team) took victory by just 13 seconds in the West Kent RC time trial, while Debbie Percival (Medway Velo Club) was the quickest woman.

Due to roadworks near the start and finish area the event was reduced from 10 to eight miles for the Saturday afternoon event.

The Q10/24 saw competitors start near the Isle of Grain before heading out and back along the A228 to the turn at Fenn Street.

Riders had to battle against a light wind and a poor road surface on the Kent course, along with a sprinkling of rain towards the turn.

Taking part in his first open event of the season, road bike competitor Trbovic stopped the clock in exactly 17 minutes over the reduced course.

Trbovic, who turns 33 this week, won the Hemel Hempstead CC 10 last year and opened his winning account for 2024 at the first time of asking.

Fellow Elysium Kalas Race Team rider Samuel Thienel was the quickest time trial bike in second place overall just 13 seconds behind his team-mate (17-13).

Completing the open podium positions was quickest veteran on scratch Kevin Tye (VeloRefined Rule 5) who stopped the clock in 17-26.

Veteran Percival won the women’s competition after going off early and posting a winning time of 22-32.

The Medway Velo Club rider won three events last season and opened her account for 2024 after finishing 42 seconds clear of her nearest opponent.

Medway Velo Club dominated the women’s podium with road bike competitors Sally Smith (23-14) finishing second and third respectively Rachel Hartridge (23-26).

The road bike category was won by overall victor Trbovic who finished 1-46 ahead of Ewan Tuohy (Arctic Aircon RT) in second (18-46), while Rob Kennison (Medway Velo Club) placed third (19-59).
