Paul Turton

Paul Turton took the honours with a narrow win at the VTTA Kent Group Mick Dansie Memorial 10-mile time trial on Saturday afternoon with Alexa Forbes finishing as fastest female.

Riding for Team Vision Racing – Silverhook, Turton was fastest overall in 18-40, narrowly ahead of the 18-42 set by Gemini BC rider Matthew Smith, while Neill Keaney (VTTA Kent) and Anthony Westwood (Gravesend CC) shared joint-third in 18-49.

The same top two also finished ahead of Age Adjusted Time, with Turton on 16-58 and Smith on 17-00, while Westwood took the final podium spot in 17-37.

The team of two on age adjusted time prize went to Smith and Gemini BC club-mate Huseyini Vardal in 35-40.

The first road bike overall was Rob Kenison (Medway Velo Club) in 21-20, while the age adjusted time winner was Dave Richards (Abellio SFA Racing Team) in 22-00.

In the women’s event, London Dynamo rider Forbes set 23-09 to finish exactly a minute ahead of Sally Smith (Medway Velo Club) who was fastest women’s road bike in 24-09, while third overall was Jennifer Tomblin (Greenwich Tritons Tri Club) in 25-45.

The fastest non-veteran on actual time Samuel Robinson (Ashford Wheelers) in 19-15 while 12-year-old Alice Tulett claimed the women’s prize in 29-52.

This event, run on the Q10/24 course, is an out-and-back that starts just west of Grain village and heads directly west on the A228 to turn at Fenn Corner roundabout, where riders then retrace the route back to Grain and finish just south of the start line.
