Sarah Roan picked up her first win of the year with success at the Eastern Counties CA 10, while Chris Holmes earned success in the open category on Sunday morning.

Riding for Kings Lynn Triathlon Club, Roan clocked 24-49 to win ahead of Tina Dankwart (St Neots CC) in 29-17, to seal a maiden win of 2024 having finished second female at the East District Cycling Association 10-mile time trial on June 1.

“It was the first time I’ve ridden that course,” said woman’s winner Roan. “I have recently got back into racing this year after losing my dad, so every ride he is with me for sure.

“There was a bit of a head wind on the way out but tried to make the most of the slightly more downhill sections! I was happy to get out on a lovely sunny Sunday morning.”

In the open category, Holmes was the star of the field in 21-14 for VC Norwich, with Richard Camp (Kings Lynn Cycling Club) taking second place in 22-05 from Jack Wright of Tri Harder, who came home in 24-08.

This was Holmes’ second win from nine races this season, having also triumphed at the Diss and District two-up in April, alongside a string of second place finishes at Wisbech Wheelers District Championship 25, and CC Breckland District 30-mile Championship having started his campaign back in February with third at the Ely and District CC 25.

Wright was quickest road bike in the open category, with Dankwart the fastest in the female category.

This event, run on the B10/19 course, starts just outside Hingham and heads west on the B1108 to Carbrooke roundabout, with riders turning at the roundabout to follow back along the b1108 to finish west of the start time.
