Matthew Holland claimed a second win of the season with victory at the Velouse Flyers 25-mile time trial in Norfolk on Sunday morning, while Kerry Brennand claimed the honours in the women’s category.
Meanwhile Velouse Flyers’ Ben Sandle was quickest in the road bike category and sixth overall, while Brennand was also fastest female on a road bike.
DAP Cycling Club rider Holland, competing in his fourth event of the campaign, was the only participant to break the one-hour barrier as he clocked 59-19, with second going to King’s Lynn CC rider Richard Camp in 59-56, while the final step of the podium went to Rory Havis (Ely & District Cycling Club) in 1:00-20
So far in 2024, Holland has accumulated an eighth place at the Great Yarmouth CC 10, followed by seventh-placed at Wisbech Wheelers 25 in June, and then returning to his best with a victory at Kings Lynn CC’s 25-mile time trial on June 15.
Newmarket Cycling and Triathlon Club’s Brennand took the women’s title in 1:11-07 while Caroline Moore, riding for the promoting club, was second in 1:24-35.
Sandle clocked 1-02-45 to win the road bike category by 1-16 from Velouse team-mate Silviu Vlad Vultur, with David Webster third in 1:05-28.
This event, run on the B25/53 course, is an anti-clockwise looped circuit that starts just west of Great Bircham and heads westbound, passing Sherbourne and continuing onwards, turning at Sandringham and completing the loop on the B1153.
