Murat Ozdenya (Team Vision Racing – Silverhook) was rewarded for facing tough conditions with victory in the Godric CC 10, while Becky Ridge (Loose Cannon's Conditioning) added another win to her collection in the women’s event.

Ozdenya, aged 51 and from Chingford, posted a winning time of exactly 21 minutes and finished 58 seconds clear of her nearest opponent.

The B10/43 saw competitors start outside Harleston before competing out and back along the A143 to the turn at Bungay.

A severe rainstorm shortly after the first riders started resulted in a wet ride for those brave enough to take the start.

Ozdenya finished eighth in last weekend’s Elite CC 10 over a sporting course in 22-35 and showed his speed on the fast course on this occasion.

Fellow veteran Nick Esser (Beccles Tri Club) led the battle for second stopping the clock in 21-58 which was just 10 seconds faster than Jamie Watson (Schils - Doltcini RT) in 22-08.

“It was dreadful weather which was a real shame,” said Ozdenya. “I’ve done that course before some years ago and it’s fast with a good road surface.

“I travelled quite far for the event so felt that I had to do it as the marshals were out there ready. I had started my warm-up and then the heavens opened.

“To do a 21-00 when conditions weren’t that great means that on a good day I could have done a long 19-minute or 20-minute ride.

“It’s a very fast course and I’ll definitely travel to ride it again. It was well organised, just the weather wasn’t great.

“I’m planning on riding on the E2 next down the road at Newmarket.”

Veteran rider Ridge, aged 43, also won the Stowmarket & District CC event over 15 miles last month and recorded another victory on this occasion.

Ridge battled the wet conditions and stopped the clock in a time of 22-36. The Loose Cannon's Conditioning rider was the only woman competitor.

The only road bike competitor was Gerry Barton (West Suffolk Wheelers) who completed the course in 26-25.

Meanwhile, the VC Baracchi tandem pair of John Swanbury and Kate Churchill clocked 25-50.
