Richard Oakes earned his first win of the season with victory in the open category at the Witham Wheelers 10-mile time trial on Saturday afternoon, with Charlotte Dadd triumphing in the women’s event.
Riding for Team Ohten Aveas, Oakes set a time of 20-17 to finish comfortably ahead of runner-up Julian Ramsbottom (Team Bottrill) who finished in 21-07, while Spalding CC rider Dominic Righini-Brand was 40 seconds further back in 21-48 to clinch the final spot on the podium.
This was Oakes’ first win since taking winning the VTTA National 10-Mile Championship on age adjusted times.
In the women’s event Dadd, riding for Melton Olympic CC, posted an unbeaten 25-35 with a time of 25-43 helping Evgenya Righini-Brand (Spalding CC) to second place, and third place sealed by Carol Milne (Witham Wheelers) in 28-58.
Elsewhere, Oakes was also the fastest veteran in an age adjusted time of 19-07, while Milne also took the prize for fastest road bike.
This event, run on the C10/10 course, starts on the A15 Sleaford bypass just south of Quarrington Roundabout before proceeding south on the A15 through Osbournby then encircling the roundabout and retracing the course along the A15 to finish just short of the start line.
