Dave Falkiner-Willis (Clifton CC York) charged to a slender victory by five tenths of a second in the Tickhill Velo Club hill climb event on Bib Lane.
Falkiner-Willis, aged 37, covered the almost 500-metre climb in a winning time of one minute and 17.8 seconds.
The Bib Lane climb is relatively short in just 500 metres but is deceptively steep with a couple of bends and average gradient of 9.5%.
The open hill climb record was set by Andy Nichols (1-09.7) in 2020 and remains for another year at least.
Falkiner-Willis was riding in his second open time trial event, having finished fourth in the Birdwell Wheelers hill climb on Green Moor last month.
The short nature of the climb resulted in some close racing and Falkiner-Willis finished less than a second ahead of quickest veteran Charlie Openshaw (Team Lifting Gear Products) in 1-18.3.
Spindata had tipped Openshaw for victory after finishing fifth on the Team Lifting Gear Products event on Mill Lee Road last month.
However, he had to settle for second on this occasion and fellow veteran Oliver Humphreys (National Clarion CC) was third (1-19.3).
Meanwhile, the only junior competitor was Noah Starbuck (Sleaford Wheelers Cycling Club) whose time of 1-20.2 was good enough for fourth position overall on the day.
There were no women competitors in a small field of 10 finishers.
