Coxon and McSeveney triumph at Southdown Velo 10

Cris Coxon returned to winning ways with victory at the Southdown Velo 10-mile time trial in Chichester on Sunday morning, while

was the quickest woman.

Brighton Mitre rider Coxon, who was third in the Team TMC 10-mile time trial in his last event, was the only rider to dip under 20 minutes, stopping the clock in 19-59.

Coxon lived up to his title as pre-race Spindata favourite to win ahead of runner-up Michael Renardson, the trainSharp member clocking 20-17 to narrowly edge …a3crg’s Neil Mackey into third place in 20-23.

There was more success for …a3crg with McSeveney clocking 24-08 on her way to winning the women’s event ahead of Portsmouth North End CC rider Rachel Lamont who managed 27-02.

Coxon now has six wins from his 16 open time trials so far this season, including success at the Sussex CA 15-mile time trial and the a3crg Coodwood Closed Circuit Time Trial League 10-mile event, as well as triumphing at the Crawley Wheelers 10-mile time trial.

He will be focusing on earning further success at the Sussex CA 10-mile time trial on August 26 before the …a3crg 10-mile scratch event two days later.

This event, run on course P901/10, started just west of Fontwell and headed west on Arundel Road to the A255 roundabout, where riders turn north to begin a loop through Westhampnett and back east along Arundel Road to then trace the outbound leg back to finish just west of the start line.
