Junior ace Izzy Sharp (Drag2zero) and Jamie Whitcher (Bournemouth Cycleworks) were fastest female and male riders at the latest a3crg 10-mile midweek league event at the Goodwood Aerodrome in West Sussex.

Southampton-based Sharp, 18 last month, clocked 20-58 to finish as fastest female by 51 seconds from Alex Morrice (Canyon-SRAM Racing), with third in the female time trial category going to Rebecca Seal (Fulfil the Potential Race Team) with 22-50.

And Whitcher, 19 and from Bournemouth, covered the 10 miles in 19-27 to win the time trial bike category by 13 seconds from North Road CC veteran Paul Willcox, with third going to Josh Newbould (Drag2zero), 18 seconds further adrift from Whitcher.

There were many entrants on road bikes, and the pick of these was Brighton Mitre CC’s Cris Coxon with 20-30, giving him the win in that category by 1-32 from Jan Grosicki (Sussex Revolution Velo Club), while his team-mate Chris Barker took third with 22-13.

Woking CC veteran Ruth Whiddett clocked 24-56 to finish as fastest female on a road bike, her time of 24-56 being 42 seconds better than runner-up Sien Van Der Plank (New Forest CC), while another six seconds back in third was Deborah Smith (Southdown Velo).

The event also included a category for army personnel only, and fastest there was Mark Greenwood (Lungs 2 Legs) with 20-31. Second was Jeremy Redford (Army Cycling) with 20-36, while Dan Whitehouse-Smith (Voranje) was third with 20-43.

12-year-old Freddie Gay (Chichester Tri Club) clocked 24-02 and won the Youths 10-14 category, while the category for youths 13-15 was won by Ewan Cook (Wightlink Wight Mountain RT) with 22-21.
