The promoting club’s own Rachel Waite was fastest female at the North Hampshire Road Club 10-mile time trial in Berkshire on Sunday morning, while Scott Warden (Charlotteville CC) was fastest male in the event near Aldermaston.

43-year-old Waite covered the H10/1c course in 26-57 to finish as fastest female by more than seven minutes while Serpentine Running Club team-mates Jan Farmer and Rosslyn Young were second and third respectively.

31-year-old Scott Warden clocked 21-07 to win overall by 48 seconds from David Glossy (Elysium Kalas Race Team), while Andover Wheelers’ Mitchell Webber was another 14 seconds back in third.

Of the road bikes quickest was Max Webber (Andover Wheelers) with 22-49, just one second ahead of second road bike Tom Quinlan (Fulfil the Potential Racing). Of the women, only Rosslyn Young (Serpentine Running Club) was on a road bike.

This was Scott Warden’s first open time trial victory on record, with his previous best being second place in last season’s Sotonia CC 10 near Lyndhurst. He is next due to be in action at the a3crg 10 on Bank Holiday Monday, August 28.

Rachel Waite’s record has her down as one half of the first mixed tandem combination at Sotonia CC’s Tandem Tart Ten last month where she was riding with Michael Boardman (Salisbury Road and Mountain CC).

A good all-rounder, Waite has also this season ridden the a3crg 50 as well as the Hounslow and District Wheelers 100 where she placed fourth.

She has currently entered next month’s Newbury Velo 15 as well as the a3crg 10 on August 28.

The course used in this event takes riders from a start near Woolhampton along the A4 eastbound to the junction with the A340 near Theal. On returning west, ridings head to the finish further out to the west of Woolhampton.
