Joe Beech earned his first win of the season in the Cardiff 100 Miles Road CC 10-mile time trial in Monmouthshire on Saturday afternoon, with Diana Egerton-Warburton finishing as fastest female.
In just his second open event of the season, Preston Wheelers rider Beech clocked 19-14 to take a narrow victory from Anthony Jones (VMCC powered by Y Beic) who was six seconds back in 19-20, while a time of 19-25 helped UF Rowe & King rider Owen Burgess to secure the final spot on the podium in 19-25.
Beech’s only previous race this season saw him finish third at the North Lancashire Time Trial Association 50-mile time trial on September 17, with his last victory coming at the Ross-on-Wye & District Cycling Club 10-mile time trial on July 10 2021.
In the women’s event, Egerton-Warburton (Team Enable – M.I Racing – McCann) set 22-52 to win narrowly ahead of Emma Wyatt, of Hereford & District Wheelers Cycling Club, who was six seconds back in 22-58, while a time of 24-12 helped Port Talbot Wheelers Cycling Club’s Emma Davies to third place.
This event, run on the R10/17 course, starts just north of Llangattock Nigh Usk and heads eastbound on the A40, reaching the Raglan roundabout then turning and head back directly along the same route to finish in the same place as the start line.
