Douglas Watson continued his fine form with success in the men’s event at the St Christopher’s 25-mile time trial in Renfrewshire on Sunday morning, while the women’s category was won by Lorna Breetzke.

GTR – Return To Life p/b Streamline rider Watson returned to winning ways after third place at the Springfield Financial Racing Team Charity Event 10-mile time trial earlier this month.

Watson has enjoyed a successful 2023 season so far, with wins at the SVTTA British Championship 30-mile time trial last month along with the GTR Return To Life p/b Streamline 4-up team time trial Scottish Championship and the 25-mile Border City Wheelers Cycling Club event.

In the women’s event, Breetzke, riding for Vanelli-Project GO, clocked 59-26 to win ahead of the 1:00-34 set by Ayrodynamic Triathlon Club’s Lorna Lumley with Patricia Baird (Ecosse Performance Cycling Club) taking third place in 1:02-18.

In the road bike category Karl Farmer (VC Glasgow South) led the way posting a winning time of 58-18, ahead of Lindsay Foster (Ayrodynamic Triathlon Club) in second (1-12-16) and Mark Ford (VC Glasgow South) in third.

This event, run on the WW25/01 course, started on Bishopton Hill and headed westbound along the River Clyde on the A8 to Woodhall roundabout.

Riders then took the first exit for 1.5 miles then turning back, rounding Westferry roundabout and completing another lap of the circuit.
