Simon Wilson made it two wins from two this season with victory in the men’s event at the Manchester & District Time Trial Association’s 25-mile time trial in Cheshire on Saturday afternoon, with Alice Taylor finishing as fastest female.

Having won the Liverpool Braveheart BC 10-mile time trial on April 1, HUUB WattShop rider Wilson followed it up by posting a time of 50-17 to make it two successive triumphs.

On his win, Wilson said: “I didn’t know what to expect, but I’m pleased to go like that and it’s reassuring that I’ve still got that form.

“There’s no grand plan, I will race and get stuck in when I fancy it and I enjoyed yesterday to be racing again.”

Second place in this time trial, which is the sixth of 20 in the Cheshire Points Series, was taken by David Parkin (Velotik RT) in 52-42, while the final podium spot was sealed in 52-55 by Joszef Evans riding for Fibrax Wrexham RC.

In the women’s event, Congleton CC enjoyed success with Taylor taking first place in 1:00-27 and team-mate Lucy Rogers second in 1:01-17 while Army Cycling rider Jasmine Holmes clocked 1:01-49 to secure third spot.

Elsewhere, the team prize was taken by Tricentral UK trio Tony Cullen, Benjamin Aki and Gavin Gilmore in a combined 2:46-41, while the Handicap top spot went to Stephen Taylor of Manchester Tri Club in 38-55 and Wilson also taken the Veteran on Age Adjusted time of 50-17.
