Charlie Tanfield (Saint Piran) and Emily Martin (Team Bottrill) took clear victories in the men’s and women’s events at the Macclesfield Wheelers 25, finishing minutes ahead of their rivals.
Tanfield, aged 26, recorded a winning time of 50 minutes and one second which was 2-45 faster than his nearest competitor.
The J2/9 course saw riders complete one-and-a-half laps of a course around the Cheshire countryside to make up the 25-mile distance.
Starting at Jodrell Bank competitors started on the A535 and then A537 past Chelford to Ollerton, before joining an unclassified road for a short section across to Toft after six miles.
Joining the A50 competitors then headed through the finish down towards Cranage and then cutting over to Twemlow Green to re-join the A535 to complete one full lap.
Tanfield has already won two events on the J4/20 course in Cheshire over 10 miles this year and added another victory to his collection over the longer 25-mile course.
Early starter David Parkin (Velotik Racing Team) has also been in fine form this season with three wins to his name – including last week’s Manchester Wheelers 10.
However, Parkin had to take second on this occasion in 52-46 ahead of Sam Taylor (Weaver Valley CC) in third (53-27).
Spindata predicted that Tanfield would take the victory in a time of 48-49, but he was slower than that time on this occasion.
Quickest veteran on scratch Richard Shaw (Seamons CC) missed the podium positions by just 20 seconds finishing fourth overall in 53-47.
The quickest junior rider was Jacob Bradbury (Manchester Wheelers) who stopped the clock in 1-02-13.
In the women’s event Martin, aged 33, from Crowton in Cheshire, recorded a winning time of 56-37 which was almost three minutes quicker than her nearest rival.
Martin also won the Manchester & District VTTA 10 last month and made it two wins from as many open time trials.
A close battle for second saw quickest veteran on scratch Lucy Rogers (Congleton CC – MyWindsock) clock 59-24 which was just 23 seconds faster than team-mate Alice Taylor (59-47).
The road bike event saw another clear winner with Alastair Ribbands (Congleton CC – MyWindsock) stopping the clock in 55-09 – over four minutes quicker than his nearest opponent.
Nick Giles (Pocomotion Road Club) led the battle for second with his time of 59-16 which was seven seconds quicker than Sam Witter (Congleton CC – MyWindsock) in 59-23.
In the women’s road bike catgory Laura Oldroyd (Total Tri Training) went fastest in 1-08-58 ahead of Nicola Cadwallader (360cycling) in second (1-14-34).
