Charlie Tanfield was fastest male while Kate Richardson earned fastest female at the Manchester & District TTA 10-mile time trial near Byley in Cheshire on Saturday afternoon.
Tokyo Olympian Tanfield, who rides for Saint Piran, clocked a dominant 19-50 on his way to winning the event ahead of 360cycling’s Maxwell Hereward in 21-26 while the 21-32 set by Alastair Ribbands (Congleton CC – My Windsock) earned him third place in the men’s event.
26-year-old Tanfield has enjoyed a successful international career to date, with team pursuit gold at the 2018 Track World Championships, with 2019 silver in the same event followed by bronze in 2021 also in the team pursuit, to go alongside four European bronze medals and a silver.
In the women’s event, Alba Development Road Team rider Kate Richardson finished in 23-29 with Congleton CC pair Lucy Rogers and Alice Taylor completing the podium in 24-53 and 26-32 respectively.
In the Juvenile category, Westmead Team 88 rider Nicholas Smith was triumphant in 27-02, while Hereward’s time also secure him fastest Junior, with quickest tandem won by Stirling Bike Club pair Jenny Holl and Sophie Unwin in 23-12.
The Veteran’s prize was scooped by Stephen Dooley of Seamons CC in 22-38, while a time of +4-55 helped Lucy Rogers seal further success for Congleton CC.
This 10-mile event, run on the J4/20 course, starts just east of Byley and continues eastbound to Cranage before turning northbound to Allostock then the B5081 to Toft where riders head south to pass Lower Peover and Swan Green, finishing just before Hulme Hall Lane.
