Chris McNamara (Sigma Sports RT) posted a new course record in the end of season Brighton Mitre CC event over 25 miles, while road bike competitor Olivia Webb (Eastbourne Rovers CC) was the fastest woman.

Veteran rider McNamara won the event for the third time in four years posting a winning time of 52 minutes and 23 seconds – over a minute clear of his nearest competitor.

The G25/42 saw competitors complete three laps of a 7.8-mile lap on unclassified roads with various surfaces. The rural course included less than 80 yards in total of B-road and 580 feet of climbing.

Competitors were met by a sunny morning with no wind and temperatures of between nine and 13 degrees Celsius.

McNamara, aged 48, came into the event with seven open time trial wins to his name this season, with his last coming in the Bec CC 25 two months ago.

Host club competitor Cris Coxon (Brighton Mitre CC) has also won seven open events during a long season of racing but had to settle for second this time out in 53-46.

Completing the men’s podium was Colin McDermott (Festival RC) who stopped the clock in a time of 57-11.

The quickest team was Addiscombe CC with Marek Siwicki, Jim Burdett and Jonathan Pontin all contributing for a combined time of 3-07-40.

Addiscombe CC finished with a convincing winning margin of 5-06 ahead of GS Stella’s team of Dave Dent, Mark Jones and Tony Reeves.

In the women’s event veteran rider Webb took her first open victory of the season in the road bike category with a new course record time of 1-08-24.

Second in the road bike category was Michelle Lock (GS Stella) who recorded a time of 1-18-11.

Meanwhile, the only woman in the time trial event was Francine Davis (East Grinstead CC) who posted a time of 1-13-45.

James Bullen (trainSharp) has been on form in the men’s road bike events this season and won his fourth consecutive open event in a time of 57-04.

Second in the road bike category was Robert Lovett (Team TMC) in 58-45, while Robin Kirk (VC Godalming & Haslemere) completed the road bike podium in 1-00-10.

Exposure Lights were the main sponsor of the events with over £1,000 of its products given out in prizes.
