A time of 51-43 helped McNamara, riding for Sigma Sports, secure a narrow triumph ahead of road bike competitor Paul Burton (Paceline RT) whose time of 51-49 was good enough for third overall.

Richard Llewelyn (Imperial Racing Team) finished third overall in 55-45.

Serpentine Running Club’s Hillary Briggs took the women’s prize in 1:09-21, while Burton was fastest road bike.

Paceline RT team-mate Matt Phipps-Taylor finished runner-up in the road bike category (56-42) and a time of 57-59 helped Olly Thomas (Sussex Revolution Velo) to the final spot on the podium.

McNamara maintained his record of winning every event he has completed this campaign.

This event, held on course G25/93, began just north of Steyning and saw riders head northbound on Horsham Road through Ashurst to bear west at West Grinstead and head southbound to complete a loop, turning at Washington to head back through Steyning.

Competitors then turned at the A283 on the final out and back loop before returning to the finish.
