Paul Burton (Paceline RT) powered to victory in the Addiscombe CC 10-mile event in Surrey whilst riding a road bike, while Epsom CC’s Christina Teague was fastest female.

Burton clocked 19-52 to win by nine seconds from Spindata’s pre-race favourite Simon McNamara (Sigma Sport-Cannondale), with third going to Mark Smith of Crawley Wheelers with 20-45.

And Teague clocked 23-14 to take the women’s award by 42 seconds from veteran Sarah Matthews (a3crg), while Felicity Newman (Endurance X Nature RC) took third spot overall on a road bike with 27-56.

While Burton was fastest on a road bike second spot in that category went to his team-mate Guido Blee with 20-58 and fifth overall, while third fastest road bike was another Paceline rider, Matt Phipps-Taylor, who clocked 22-23.

This was win number six in open time trialling for Burton, who won last weekend’s East Anglian VTTA 25 as well as the a3crg 50 last month.

“I’m a little surprised about that win - I was hoping to get close to the fastest TT bike riders but not to beat them,” said Burton, who is targeting the National Road Bike National Championships on October 1.

“The Holmwood course has some tricky rolling hills and rough road surface, so it probably suits a road bike more than most 10-mile courses.

“It’s great to get another win on the board for Paceline this year - we’re on a bit of a roll with lots of different riders winning, it’s great to be part of.”

The G10/42 course begins south of Dorking near North Holmwood and heads south on the A24, turning at Clark’s Green near Capel before heading back up to finish just beyond the start.
