Cris Coxon powered his way to overall victory in the Crawley Wheelers 10 in West Sussex despite riding a road bike, while quickest female was Lisa Davis (Drag2zero).

2022 event winner Coxon (Brighton Mitre CC) covered the course is 20-23 to take victory ahead of Ben Tappenden (Precise Performance) by 32 seconds, with Brett Davis (Drag2zero) being just one second further back in third spot.

Lisa Davis was fastest female in 23-28, taking the win by 4-30 from road bike rider Georgina Wise (Crawley Wheelers) while third female was Erica Martin (Eastbourne Rovers CC).

This was Coxon’s third open time trial victory this season, having previously won the VTTA Southern 10-Mile Closed Circuit Championship at Goodwood last month as well as the a3crg event on the same circuit back in May.

Coxon, who won last year’s Crawley Wheelers 10 in just four seconds more, is moving on to ride the a3crg 10 next Sunday in Hampshire.

“I was happy with that as I’ve felt a bit run down all week, but really enjoyed it once I got going,” said Coxon. “It has been good doing a few road bike entries this season and I like the new CTT rules.

“It's still only my second full season racing so I’m learning lots and it's satisfying to be improving while being a veteran rider. And we have a great local scene with lots of good clubs and welcoming people who I'm really enjoying getting to know.

“I'm looking forward to a bit more time on the TT bike for the rest of the season, and trying out some of the fast courses if I can.”

While Coxon was the fastest overall as well as on a road bike, second quickest road bike rider was James Bullen (trainSharp) whose time of 21-43 gave him sixth overall, with Simon McLeod (Team TMC) being third with 23-55.

In other categories Team TMC’s Lucas Houghton clocked 23-33 to finish as fastest junior.

48-year-old Davis from East Sussex was securing her third victory of the season so far, having previously been fastest female at the VTTA Southern 10-Mile Closed Circuit Championship at Goodwood last month as well as the VTTA London and Home Counties 10 in Buckinghamshire in May.

The event uses the popular G10/97 course which uses the A283 and begins near Wiston Park, heading south on the Steyning bypass, turning on the outskirts of Shoreham-by-Sea at the junction with the A27.
