Jennifer Fernando finished as fastest woman at the Paceline Road Team 15.8-mile time trial in Dorking on Sunday, with Oliver Hurdle claiming top spot as fastest male.

Total Tri Training rider Fernando clocked 42-37 on the day to beat Onyx RT’s Kathryn Hughes to top spot, with her time of 43-25 putting her ahead of third-placed Ellen Inglis (Brother UK – Team OnForm) who, in 43-55, was just three seconds faster than Sophie Curtis (Onyx RT) in fourth.

In the men’s event, Hurdle was impressive in setting 33-55 to lead the field, while Paceline RT pair Paul Burton and Pat Wright set 34-16 and 34-40 to finish second and third respectively.

The 22-year-old Hurdle has enjoyed a consistent start to the season, with success in the 24km Sotonia CC time trial on February 26 sandwiched between a second place at the Kingston Wheelers CC 14-mile time trial on February 19, and fourth at the Cambridge University CC BUCS Championship 25-mile time trial on March 26.

Riders enjoyed a very still and dry morning, although there were numerous puddles and water on the circuit after Friday's heavy rain.

Riders had to avoid several potholes, as well as a dead deer on the course but every rider made it around safely and enjoyed the course.

This 15.8-mile event, run on course GS/483, starts just south of North Holmwood and heads south past Holmwood Common and Beare Green then goes east to Rusper. From there riders return through Newdigate and North Holmwood before heading back west to the finish.
