Gabe Dellar earned his second win of the season in the men’s event at the Severn Road Club open hill climb on Saturday, with Emily Lockwood finishing fastest in the women’s event.

Stolen Goat Race Team rider Dellar set an unmatched time of 1-51.4, just four seconds slower than Rob Gough’s course record set in 2011, to ensure he claimed a second win of the season after his triumph at the Chippenham & District Wheelers hill climb on September 30.

A time of 2-05.1 helped Danny Lake of 360VRT to the runner-up spot with Kevin Thomas (Bradford-on-Avon CC) closely behind in 2-06.4.

In the women’s event, Lockwood (Performance Cycles CC) took the honours in an impressive time of 2-38.6, while FTP Fulfil the Potential rider Josie Harcourt was second in 2-55.9.

Elsewhere, Kevin Thomas (Bradford on Avon CC) was fastest over 40 and third overall in 2-06.4, improving on his 2022 performance, while Bristol Road Club’s Steve Thomas clocked 2-13.0 to earn the over-50s prize for a second year running with the over-60s prize going to Richard Burt (Dursley Road Club) in 3-47.7.

First juvenile was William Phillips of Avid Sport in a time of 2-55.9, while first junior was Akira Bees of Sodbury Cycle Sport in 2-11-.2.

This event, run on the UH90 course, starts at The Bull car park in Hinton and sees riders ascend the hill eastwards away from Hinton to finish at the summit, with an approximate distance of 800 yards and an average gradient of one in seven.
